Phillips CPAP FAQS

What is the difference between a full-face CPAP mask and a nasal CPAP mask?
The difference between a full-face CPAP nask and a nasal mask are simple and depend on what areas of your face are covered.

A nasal mask covers your nose, which makes it ideal for those who want a lighter fit than a full mask.
A full-face mask covers your nose and mouth, which can be good for those who want a better seal against leaking, which can help you follow your CPAP therapy more effectively.

All in all, it’s a personal choice that depends on your needs.

Does it matter if my CPAP machine doesn’t have a humidifier?
Almost all CPAP machines have humidifiers, but you may choose not to use it. As CPAP therapy can reduce moisture in your nasal passages, which can lead to dry mouth, dry throat, nosebleeds and chest pain, the humidifier can prevent these issues through moisturised air.

If you’re having trouble sticking to your CPAP therapy, it might be worth trying the humidifier as it humidifies the air you breathe instead of the air around you.

How often do I need to change the filter on my CPAP machine?
It’s recommended that you inspect the air filter on your CPAP machine every month to check if it’s blocked by dirt or contains holes.
With normal use, you should need to replace it every six months or more depending on whether your device is in a dusty environment.
