Is Voltaren stronger than ibuprofen?
Voltaren is stronger than ibuprofen and other non-opioid painkillers but isn’t as strong as opioid medications like codeine and morphine. It’s not recommended that you take other medicines with Voltaren as you can suffer side effects like nausea or an upset stomach.
What does Voltaren do?
Voltaren products use an active ingredient known as diclofenac that penetrates deep through your skin, relieves pain, and reduces inflammation directly at the source.
A range of Voltaren products are available, including topical gels or tablets and liquid capsules that aim to reduce muscle pain, joint pain, arthritis pain, and osteoarthritis.
What is Voltaren best used for?
This depends on the type of Voltaren product you are using. If you’re using the Voltaren Emulgel, this product aims to bring targeted and localised relief from pain, swelling and inflammation in your muscles, including your back and neck. It can be used for soft tissue injuries, including backache, bruises and ligament trauma.
If you’re using the Voltaren Rapid Pain Relief tablets, this product aims to help you get back to what you love without using a topical gel.
The tablet still includes the main active ingredient of diclofenac, which provides pain relief and reduces inflammation at its source. You can start to see relief just 15 minutes after taking the tablet.
